Stakeholder Consultation Meeting on “Antonis Tritsis” Park
On Tuesday February 18 we held the second stakeholder meeting as part of the consultation on formulating the Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (SUDS) for Metropolitan Green Spaces. This second meeting focused on the Metropolitan Park “Antonis Tritsis.”
The second stakeholders’ meeting was concluded on Tuesday 18.02.2025 at the offices of New Metropolitan Attica S.A., as part of the consultation on the formulation of the Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (SUDS) for the Metropolitan Parks of the Region of Attica.
This meeting focused on the needs and challenges of the “Antonis Tritsis” Metropolitan Park, aiming primarily at the exchange of views and the collection of proposals regarding necessary interventions, projects and actions for the enhancement of one of the most significant green lungs in Western Attica – a place of recreation, education and acquiring environmental awareness for the public.
In shaping the proposed SUDS strategy for the Metropolitan Green Spaces under the jurisdiction of the Region of Attica, participants included stakeholders whose more direct relationship with the park helps them to identify its particular needs and challenges, as well as entities and organizations providing useful data for a more integrated and evidence-based approach.
Participants included: Mr. Vasileios Lolos, Deputy Regional Governor of Western Athens Sector; Ms. Andriana Alevizou-Koukouvinou, Mayor of Ilion; Mr. Dimitrios Koukouvinos, President of the Ilion Municipal Council; Mr. Georgios Kormas, CEO of New Metropolitan Attica S.A.; Ms. Effie Filiopoulou, General Director; Mr. Konstantinos Floros, Director of Technical Works. From the Region of Attica, also present was Ms. Rita Moraitaki-Pikrou, Regional Councillor for Groves, Parks, and Animal Health. Representatives from the Management Body of the Antonis Tritsis Metropolitan Park, the Friends of the Park, EYDAP, and other relevant organizations also participated.
During the meeting, critical issues were discussed regarding the functional and aesthetic upgrading of the park, as well as possibilities for establishing a unified management framework based on sustainable development principles. The proposals and conclusions that emerged will feed into the process of developing the final strategy.
Within the framework of the Regional Program “Attica 2021–2027”, the Region of Attica and New Metropolitan Attica S.A. are developing an integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (SUDS) to allow for the qualitative and functional upgrading of parks, addressing citizens’ needs and contemporary sustainability challenges. They invite all interested parties to actively participate in the consultation by submitting their proposals and opinions, so that together we can shape the future of the Metropolitan Parks of Attica.
