New Metropolitan Attica – Municipality of Agistri: Landmark Collaboration for the Island’s Water Supply
The Development Organization undertakes the Study for the “Submarine Water Supply Pipeline of the Municipality of Agistri”.
A significant milestone for the future of water supply on the island of Agistri was marked by the signing of an Agreement on the Programme between the Development Organization “New Metropolitan Attica SA” and the Municipality of Agistri. The agreement concerns the preparation of the study for the project entitled “Submarine Water Supply Pipeline of the Municipality of Agistri”.
The signing took place on Tuesday, June 3rd, at the offices of “New Metropolitan Attica SA”, in the presence of the Mayor of Agistri, Mr. Dimitris Anastasiou; the President of “New Metropolitan Attica SA”, Mr. Dimitris Fragkakis and the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Georgios Kormas.
The signing took place on Tuesday, June 3rd, at the offices of “New Metropolitan Attica SA”, in the presence of the Mayor of Agistri, Mr. Dimitris Anastasiou; the President of “New Metropolitan Attica SA”, Mr. Dimitris Fragkakis and the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Georgios Kormas.
The agreement paves the way for the actualization of this important development project, including the preparation of the public procurement file and tender documents, as well as the drafting of a preliminary advanced-level study and the requisite Port Engineering, Hydraulic, Geological, Environmental studies and Topographic survey in support of the project.
The total budget amounts to €285,224.94, and the overall duration of the Agreement, including the time required for approvals by other authorities, is estimated at 39 months.
The submarine water pipeline is expected to bring a lasting solution to the issue of water shortages in Agistri, ensuring sustainable and reliable year-round access to potable water—both to meet the needs of residents and to boost tourism on the island.
