Implementation of sub-project 17, entitled "Provision of Consultancy Services and Preparation of a Strategic Plan for the Development and Integration of Artificial Intelligence in the Region of Attica", under the project "Support Studies for the Region of Attica on the Specialisation of Development Priorities and Specific Actions during the 2021–2027 Programming Period.".

The Development Organisation, New Metropolitan Attica S.A., is undertaking the preparation of a strategic plan for the development and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) throughout the operations of the Region of Attica.

More specifically, the objective of sub-project 17 is to assess the Region of Attica's needs and develop an initial strategic framework for the adoption and integration of smart solutions in local government. In this context, the study will focus on assessing the current state of play; identifying the Region's strategic priorities and evaluating modern technological solutions that can contribute to improving the public services provided to citizens.

The study includes an assessment of the Region's existing digital and technological infrastructure, an analysis of the challenges and constraints associated with the adoption of smart solutions, and a review of best practices implemented in other regions of Greece and across Europe. In parallel, targeted consultations will be carried out with the Region's competent directorates to identify operational needs and determine the most appropriate Artificial Intelligence applications.

More specifically, the implementation of the sub-project is structured around four main work streams:

• Analysis of the current state of play and benchmarking of international Artificial Intelligence practices in the public sector.
• Strategic planning and identification of priority intervention areas for the Region of Attica.
• Preparation of an Action Plan, including the definition of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the exploration of potential funding instruments.
• Internal collaboration, together with communication and dissemination activities supporting the Region's Artificial Intelligence strategy.

The primary objective of the study is to develop an evidence-based, realistic and viable strategic framework for the adoption of Artificial Intelligence within the Region of Attica, providing practical guidance for the planning and implementation of future initiatives.

Sub-project 17, entitled "Provision of Consultancy Services and Preparation of a Strategic Plan for the Development and Integration of Artificial Intelligence in the Region of Attica", is being implemented under the project "Support Studies for the Region of Attica on the Specialisation of Development Priorities and Specific Actions during the 2021–2027 Programming Period" (OPS Code: 6006487). The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the priority of strengthening the competitiveness and outward orientation of the regional economy through the "Attica 2021–2027" Programme.
