The Local Government Development Organization "New Metropolitan Attica S.A." has undertaken and is implementing the development and operation of the Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship Observatory of the Region of Attica — a dynamic and interactive hub of strategic information, awareness and stakeholder engagement, aiming at the overall upgrading of the entrepreneurship sector at regional level and the strengthening of the competitiveness, extroversion and resilience of the regional economy.

The Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship Observatory is a high-level, modern, technocratic and public-interest support mechanism, creating added value for the Region of Attica.

In line with the most modern trends, the Observatory aims to:

• monitor changes in the regional business, productive and investment environment of the Region of Attica, identify trends and developments, and assess their effects and impacts;
• collect, process, analyse and synthesize primary and secondary data in order to generate and disseminate new knowledge regarding the business, productive and investment environment in Attica, entrepreneurship and competitiveness, as well as issues of extroversion, innovation, resilience and business/investment opportunities;
• provide horizontal information to businesses in Attica, aspiring entrepreneurs and investors, employees and professionals, and offer scientific knowledge and evidence-based input to policy-makers at national, regional and local level;
• strengthen the operation, resilience, adaptability and competitiveness of businesses in Attica through the development of tools and the dissemination of best practices;
• promote the connection between knowledge and research with entrepreneurship, and reinforce the competitiveness, extroversion, resilience and readiness of enterprises in the face of transformational “waves” such as the digital and green transition.

It should be noted that the development of the Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship Observatory of the Region of Attica is funded by the National Development Programme (NDP).

The action is based on the study “Support Services for the Specialisation of Entrepreneurship and Extroversion Priorities in the Region of Attica”, implemented by the Development Organization “New Metropolitan Attica S.A.” in the framework of the project “Support Studies for the Region of Attica for the Specialisation of Development Priorities and Specific Actions for the Programming Period 2021–2027”, co-funded by the NSRF and the “ATTICA 2014–2020” Programme.
