On November 23 & 24, 2024, the Development Organization "New Metropolitan Attica S.A." had the pleasure of hosting the "Innovation Attica Hackathon 2024".

The "Innovation Attica Hackathon 2024" was co-organized by the Region of Attica, the Innovation Center of the Region of Attica (KE.K.P.A.), and the European Digital Innovation Hubs (GR digiGOV-innoHUB and Smart Attica). The event was supported by the NSRF, along with many other institutions, as well as technological and educational organizations.

This competition brought together startups, researchers and stakeholders, offering the opportunity to create innovative applications with real impact. The aim was to develop cutting-edge digital solutions and new products in two strategic sectors:

Tourism – Culture

Environment – Sustainability & Transport

Participants were challenged to address specific problems emerging from societal and business needs. They collaborated with expert mentors who provided continuous guidance and support throughout the event. Eighteen teams — comprising a total of 100 participants — worked intensively over the course of two days, producing inspired presentations and 18 brilliant, innovative ideas that were developed into business plans, all competing for the Hackathon’s three prizes (€5,000 for 1st place, €3,000 for 2nd, and €1,000 for 3rd).

On behalf of the Region of Attica, the CEO of the Development Organization "New Metropolitan Attica S.A." and Chair of the Evaluation Committee, Mr. George Kormas, awarded the 1st prize to the team OpenCouncil. Conveying the greetings and enthusiasm of the Regional Governor Mr. Nikos Hardalias, he assured everyone present that the channels of communication between the Region of Attica and all participating teams would remain open.

The Development Organization of the Region of Attica, "New Metropolitan Attica S.A.," continues to actively support initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, innovation and digital transformation.
