Management Studies for Parks of the Region of Attica
The Development Organization launches the preparation of management, landscaping and forestry studies for Attiko Alsos, Finopoulos Hill and Pedion tou Areos.
Attiko Alsos, Pedion tou Areos, and the Hill of National Resistance (Finopoulos) are located within the Attica Basin and fall under the jurisdiction of the Region of Attica. The initiation of approved management studies is of critical importance, as the execution of any new interventions within these parks is not permitted without such documentation.
The new study undertaken by the Development Organization “New Metropolitan Attica S.A.”, under the title “Studies within the Framework of Management Plans for Parks and Groves under the Jurisdiction of the Region of Attica”, concerns the preparation of:
- Management plans for Attiko Alsos and Finopoulos Hill.
- Landscaping and forestry studies for Pedion tou Areos and Attiko Alsos.
Specific study details:
Pedion tou Areos
Preparation of a special landscaping study, including mapping and analysis of the current condition, along with proposals for the maintenance and enhancement of existing vegetation and new planting initiatives where necessary. A special forestry study will also be developed, covering the description of biophysical characteristics, detailed classification of forest vegetation, and proposed interventions in the flora to maintain the natural order.
Attiko Alsos
Preparation of a comprehensive management plan including historical and physical profile of the area, urban and zoning information, proposed works, infrastructure and management of flora, and an assessment of the expected benefits of the interventions for the broader urban environment. This will be followed by a special landscaping and forestry study focused on the necessary regular interventions that will contribute to the overall ecological and functional upgrading of the park.
Hill of National Resistance (Finopoulos)
Preparation of a management plan for the protection and enhancement of the Hill of National Resistance (Finopoulos), including historical profile and physical site description, as well as land use proposals for the optimal utilization of the area.
