The Region of Attica collaborates with New Metropolitan Attica S.A. and the Municipality of Nea Filadelfeia–Chalkidona for the preparation of the study for the Vryoulon Bridge.

The Vryoulon Bridge serves as the overpass for Vryoulon Street crossing the Athens–Lamia National Highway adjacent to Nea Filadelfeia. Prioritizing the implementation of infrastructure resilience projects within its jurisdiction—especially in response to the adverse effects of climate change—the Region of Attica has entered into a Programmatic Agreement with its Development Organization New Metropolitan Attica S.A. and the Municipality of Nea Filadelfeia–Chalkidona for the implementation of the study for the repair of the Vryoulon Bridge.

The purpose of the agreement is the collaboration among the parties to conduct the necessary research and engineering studies for the project.

Specifically, the following actions will be undertaken:

• Retrieval of the original design documentation and construction plans,
• Investigation of previous interventions and records of structural performance under extraordinary events (e.g., earthquakes or fire),
• Organization and execution of a close-up inspection and topographic survey using mobile elevated work platforms and advanced digital surveying methods,
• Development and implementation of an on-site and laboratory testing and measurement program,
• Evaluation of all collected data and findings,
• Determination of the scope and content of the required structural interventions,
• Preparation of the repair or strengthening study based on the evaluation results,
• Preparation of the tender documents.

These studies will contribute significantly to accelerating the maturation and implementation of the maintenance and repair project for the Vryoulon Bridge.
