Προγραμματική σύμβαση για την «Αποκατάσταση και Αναβάθμιση των Υποδομών του Θεάτρου Πέτρας»

New Metropolitan Attica S.A. provides study maturation services to the Municipality of Petroupoli.

The Petra Theatre in the Municipality of Petroupoli is a major cultural landmark, attracting audiences from across Attica and hosting festivals featuring significant musical, theatrical, and cultural events. It is an open-air theatre located within a former quarry. With a national and international reputation for high quality, it is firmly established as an iconic venue, not only in Western Attica, but across Greece as a whole.

The aim of the project Restoration and Upgrade of Infrastructure at Petra Theatre is to improve the existing infrastructure and facilities of the theatre and to enhance its seismic resilience. In order to achieve these objectives, New Metropolitan Attica S.A. has undertaken the preparation of all necessary preliminary and final technical studies, along with support in securing the required approvals and permits from the competent authorities.

Specifically, the services provided include:

  • Geological and geotechnical stability study of the surrounding rock slopes,
  • Redevelopment of the surrounding area and the reshaping of the natural terrain surrounding the theatre,
  • Reconstruction of ageing infrastructure throughout the wider site,
  • Complete reconstruction of the metal theatre structure,
  • Structural adequacy study of the theatre building and redesign of the existing interior spaces,
  • Electromechanical (E/M) study,
  • Fire safety interventions to obtain the necessary fire protection certificate,
  • Interior and exterior spatial adjustments to buildings and surrounding space to ensure accessibility for persons with disabilities (PWDs),
  • Lighting design study for the enhancement of the theatre’s external environment,
  • Hydraulic study for stormwater management and drainage,
  • Reinforcement and upgrade of the green areas within the site,
  • Environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the entire intervention,
  • All technical studies required for the theatre’s operating license.

The transformation of the former quarry into the Petra Theatre—hosting renowned international and national events—has made it a flagship cultural venue not only for Western Attica but for the entire country.
