Implementation of Subproject 12, “Provision of consultancy support services for the study on the potential and requirements for the ‘green’ energy transition of the islands of the Region of Attica,” under the Action “Support Studies for the Region of Attica for the Specialisation of Development Priorities and Specific Actions during the 2021–2027 Programming Period” (OPS Code: 5145430)

The energy transition of the islands of Attica to clean energy sources is a priority for the Region of Attica and a necessity for addressing the negative environmental and socio-economic impacts caused by the global phenomenon of climate change. Within this context, New Metropolitan Attica S.A. is undertaking the elaboration of a study on the possibilities, conditions and requirements for the energy transition of the islands of the Region of Attica (Regional Unit of Islands), and more specifically of the Municipalities of Agistri, Aegina, Kythira, Poros, Salamina, Spetses, Troizinia–Methana and Hydra, toward greener and more environmentally friendly forms of energy, aiming at their energy autonomy from the mainland electricity transmission system (at least for the main volume of activities taking place on these islands).

The study is structured into three sections:

Ι. Procedures and conditions for the energy transition of the islands of the Region of Attica

II. Assessment of energy needs and formulation of energy transition principles for the islands

ΙΙΙ. Formulation of proposed projects and actions

The study, to be completed within five (5) months, is implemented under the Action “Support Studies for the Region of Attica for the Specialisation of Development Priorities and Specific Actions during the 2021–2027 Programming Period” (OPS Code: 5145430).
