12 Strategic Studies for the Specialization of Development Interventions

Implementation of the Action “Support Studies for the Region of Attica for the Specialization of Development Priorities and Targeted Actions for the 2021–2027 Programming Period” by the Development Organization of the Region of Attica – New Metropolitan Attica SA (OPS Code: 5145430).

New Metropolitan Attica SA, as the scientific and technical advisor to the Region of Attica, has completed the development of 12 studies and strategic plans aimed at maturing, accelerating and supporting the implementation of development-focused interventions during the current programming period.

These studies address key sectors of the Region of Attica’s development strategy and concern the following thematic areas:

1. Entrepreneurship: Specialization plan for the Region of Attica’s priorities in competitiveness and extroversion, including the creation of the Attica Center for Entrepreneurship & Competitiveness.
2. Digital Transition Strategy 2024–2030: Advancement of digitization for the Region’s organization, functions and service delivery.
3. Destination Management and Marketing Organization (DMMO): Development of a comprehensive strategy, business plan and roadmap for establishing a DMMO at the regional level to coordinate the governance of Attica’s tourism product and foster synergies among all stakeholders.
4. Carrying Capacity Assessment for Tourism in Attica: Analysis of tourist flows and formulation of recommendations to promote sustainable tourism development.
5. Regional Labor Market Needs Diagnosis Mechanism: Design and implementation of a monitoring mechanism to inform policymaking for employment and skills development.
6. Creative Economy Center: Support for the cultural and creative industries sector, with proposed establishment at the former Lysiatreio site.
7. Attica Agri-Food Innovation Hub: Strengthening the competitiveness, resilience, extroversion and innovation capacity of the Region’s agri-food sector.
8. Electromobility: Planning of a supra-local network of electric vehicle charging stations.
9. Energy Communities: Identification of Attica’s energy needs and design of an integrated framework for utilizing the Energy Communities model.
10. Green Energy Transition for Attica’s Islands: Feasibility study for the decarbonization and energy transformation of the Region’s island territories.
11. Pilot School-Based Risk Management Programme: Development of educational materials and a pilot training programme on risk and crisis management within school environments.
12. Specialization of Climate Resilience in the Region of Attica: Assessment of current conditions, challenges and formulation of standard case studies designed to test the climate resilience of selected regional projects.
